I typically use food safe and dinnerware safe glazes on functional pieces for the kitchen. They are also dishwasher and microwave safe, though hand washing will help to prevent wear and tear or chipping. If a piece has less durable glazes, I will note this in the product descriptions and recommend hand washing only!
