Where I Stand
Where I Stand is a Series that explores identity formation through the places that have shaped me New Orleans, Louisiana, and Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. These locations represent different versions of myself: where I was born, where I grew up, and where I am now. Through Black and White Film Photography, I examine how culture, community, and environment become woven into who we are.
This work stands at the intersection of memory and geography. It shows footage of familiar streets and quiet moments from each place to reveal the emotional resonance of physical spaces. These places are not just backdrops—they are characters in the story of becoming. They hold echoes of my past, reflections of my present, and influence how I see the world around me.
Where I Stand is both literal and symbolic. It reflects my current place in life while acknowledging the histories that led me here. It’s a meditation on rootedness, transition, and how our sense of self is informed by where we’ve been, where we are, and where we imagine ourselves going.
